Abstract
As more information is published on the web, and the number of
viewers also increases, the bandwidth placed on network links has
grown significantly. Implementing a caching web proxy helps reduce
network traffic, improve object retrieval response times, and allows
one to implement policy.
This presentation outlines what a caching web proxy is and why you
should consider using one. Specific details for building, installing,
and configuring version 2 of the Squid caching web proxy are given.
For content publishers, tips on how to maximize the cacheability
of your site will also be presented.
