What comes to mind when think of JavaScript? Broken web sites, browser incompatibilities, and brittle spaghetti code? It doesn't have to be this way anymore! Our last session focused on JavaScript in the browser environment, and gave us a feel for what we can expect as we attempt to seek the holy grail of cross-browser JavaScript DOM and event support. Our third session will take this exploration one step further, into the realm of some sleek, modern libraries that do their best to pave over the browser incompatibilities, while at the same time providing the developer with some incredibly useful APIs for doing DOM manipulation, handling user events, and dealing with the Ajax request lifecycle. This session will focus primarily on Prototype, Script.aculo.us, and jQuery.
As with all Chicago Polyglot Programmer meetings, everyone is welcome, whether or not you consider yourself a member. We look forward to seeing you there!
