PHP has come along way since it introduction in 1995. What started out as tool to help the developer to manage his home pages has turned into a robust web application programming language with a large developer community. There are several code repositories on the internet that can get you started quick and provide you with libraries that will do a lot of for you.
This presentation will highlight what new features are in PHP 5 has to offer for developing web applications, and highlight the most useful libraries and applications in the PHP community.
Topics will include:
Jeff Jirsa is a professional programmer for eighteen years and currently. He has programmed with C, C++, Korn shell, Perl, Python, Rexx, and others he doesn't want to talk about. He has used everything from DOS to OS/2, to AIX, to Linux starting with Red Hat 5.2. Jeff developed a LAMP e-commerce site for Thomson Financial to allow customers to sign up for subscription services and created an intranet web application to manage the web site and the customer data.

From the North or South: From I-355 (North-South Tollway), exit westbound at Rt.56/Butterfield Road and proceed west 3 1/2 miles on Butterfield Road to East Loop Road. From the East or West: From I-88 (East-West Tollway), take the Naperville Road exit. At the traffic light, turn left onto Naperville Road and continue north for 1.5 miles to Rt. 56/Butterfield Road. Turn right onto Rt. 56/Butterfield Road and proceed 1/4 mile to the first traffic light (East Loop Road). Turn left onto East Loop Road, (Phillip's 66 Gas station on the corner); the campus will be on your right about a block north of Butterfield Road, behind Cozymel's. Park in the Student parking lot behind the building.
