Abstract
Want to produce dynamic web pages from the content stored in your
Oracle
database (or any database)? A little confused on the pieces of
technology
needed, and how to connect the dots? Come to our discussion and
learn which
pieces of technology you can use and how to put them together.
We will go through the basics of compiling, configuring, and
installing
Perl, Oracle client software, DBI, DBD-Oracle, Mod_Perl, and the
Apache web
server. Additionally, you'll see how to connect to, display, and
update data
stored in the database, all from your web browser.
Small and large companies alike use these technologies, to build
both
internal (intranet) and external (internet) database applications.
The
learning curve is shallow, but the applications are robust.
