Chris McAvoy will be rounding up the big four dynamic languages in a rootin'-tootin' look at what's what in the world of Perl, PHP, Python and Ruby. Is PHP just for script-slinging marketdroids? Do Python's whitespace rules really suck as much as you'd think? Is Ruby more than Rails? And what's up with Perl 6 anyway?
Chris promises to make this a no-BS, no-bashing, honest look at the strengths and weaknesses of each of these languages. Come with an open mind and we'll explore the limitless frontiers of awesome programming.
There will be a drawing at the meeting for books provided by O'Reilly & Associates.
For comments or questions, contact Andy Lester (andy@petdance.com) or leave a note on the suburb meeting's wiki page.
Chris will also be making the presention in the city this month at Performics on Feb 20, 2007. See the city meeting's wiki page for more info on RSVPing.
Chris is a programmer working for Performics. He's also an anti-language-zealot. He hates debating why some awesome language is better than some other awesome language. He'd rather spend his time doing fun things. His website is at http://lonelylion.com/.
