So you've read Perl Best Practices and have decided to start implementing some coding standards within the code you write. No matter how hard you try to code between the lines, it is all to easy to slip up here and there and write code that breaks even your own rules. What you need is an automated method of pointing out coding inconsistencies. What you need is Perl::Critic.
Perl::Critic is an extensible framework for creating and applying coding standards to Perl source code. Most of the default standards are based on Damian Conway's book Perl Best Practices. However, you can enable, disable, customize, and create policies that suit your own tastes.
Stop by to see Josh McAdams give a guided tour to the Perl::Critic system.
