Oracle databases are often run on high-end Unix systems due to the reliability, availability, and scalability features that this platform provides; thus ensuring that mission-critical business data is always accessible. While Unix systems engineers are tasked with managing such highly critical Unix systems that are typically dedicated to the function of database servers, many have little to no knowledge about the database software or how it interacts with the Unix operating system. The speaker will discuss the Oracle database platform and how it interacts with the Unix kernel and operating system from the Unix admin's perspective.
