Abstract

This presentation will review current and past UNIX architectures, explain the limitations of those architectures (Physical and scalability limitations) and how those limitations drove Sequent to move to CC-NUMA Architecture. An in-depth review of NUMA architecture and how it is implemented in Sequent's NUMA-Q 2000 will be presented providing the audience a complete understanding of what NUMA provides from a platform standpoint. In addition, the commercial benefits of this architecture will be explained showing how it benefits scalability of large OLTP and Decision Support Systems. And, finally a review of what is currently in the works at Sequent for the future of the NUMA platform.
