NUMA: The Future of Large Unix Computers?
Bob Loeb and Barry Krasner
Sequent Computer Systems
Tuesday August 26th at 7:00pm
College of Dupage Room SRC-1048
Abstract
This presentation will review current and past UNIX architectures,
explain the limitations of those architectures (Physical and
scalability limitations) and how those limitations drove Sequent
to move to CC-NUMA Architecture. An in-depth review of NUMA
architecture and how it is implemented in Sequent's NUMA-Q 2000
will be presented providing the audience a complete understanding
of what NUMA provides from a platform standpoint. In addition,
the commercial benefits of this architecture will be explained
showing how it benefits scalability of large OLTP and Decision
Support Systems. And, finally a review of what is currently in
the works at Sequent for the future of the NUMA platform.
