Abstract
This presentation will focus on the business justification for Network
Computers. In addition, a technical overview of Sun's current and
future NCs is examined. This includes a review of Sun Microsystem's
worthy competitors' NC products. This presentation will also cover
JavaStation Software Environment 1.0.2 (JSE 1.0.2). This includes
examining the the special features including:
- JavaOS 1.0 FCS
- HotJava Browser LAR (Limited Access Release)
- HotJava Views 1.0 FCS: HotJava Views is a user
- Views Manager: Views Manager is an administrative tool
- JavaStation Manager
There will be a live demo of the Sun JavaStation at this presentation.
Speaker Bio
Eric Thiele has been a Systems Engineer with Sun Microsystems since
1994. His work experiences include over 17 years working on numerous
UNIX platforms and UNIX Operating System Versions (including Version
6). Thanks to working as a software engineer for 17 years at Western
Electric, Nuvatec, Rockwell Telecommunications, Bell Labs, Interactive
Systems, Midwest Software Ltd, InsTec and now Sun - Eric is FBC (Fully
Buzzword Compliant).
