Abstract
This meeting is for programmers new to Java. This presentation will
cover installing java, fixing common compile errors, fixing common
run-time errors, how to find useful existing classes, and how to use
newsgroups to solve problems.
The format of the presentation is demonstration style.
Speaker Bio
Michael Potter is Senior Engineer at LIDP Consulting Inc. Michael was
initially hired to port LIDP mainframe software to UNIX, that port was
so successful that all development is done on UNIX with the software
being compiled and tested on the Mainframe. Currently Michael works on
advanced source code control for a repository holding 133,000 modules.
The next meeting of UniForum Chicago Java SIG will be from 7:00 pm to
9:00 PM on Tuesday, July 9th, 2002 at the College of DuPage. The address

Take 355 to Butterfield Rd (Rt 56).
Take Butterfield West to Lambert Rd,
then Lambert Rd North to Circle Drive.
Turn right and look for Lot 8 or the Faculty/Staff parking lot (just north of Lot 8).
Walk to the SRC building, and enter through the south entryway.
Room 1450 is on the first floor, accessable through the cafeteria by walking through it to the far end.
