Participants will receive a general overview of the value provided by Common Criteria security certifications. We will discuss best practices for hardening a Linux system. Including:

* Planning for disasters
* Trusted, tolerated, and unknown software
* Installation considerations
* Restricted execution environment
* Identification and authentication
* Linux Auditing Subsystem (LAUS)
* Access control
* Security monitoring and management
* Secure communication
* System maintenance
* Useful resources
Although we will be using SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 for the purposes of our presentation, the principles we will present are easily adapted to Red Hat, Debian, Mandrake, or what ever your favorite distribution may be.
Mr. Gregory D. Rosenberg, the Chief Technology Officer and founder of RICIS, Inc. has been active in the technology arena for more than two decades. He teaches entrepreneur skills, personal finance, communications, radio, camping, and hiking to Scouts.
