ADSL Overview: Technology & Applications
Gary R. Hoyne
Director, Frame Based Access Systems
Tuesday January 28th at 7:00pm
College of Dupage Room SRC-1024
Abstract
Before there can be an explosion in interactive multimedia services to
the home, a robust, high speed digital access network must exist.
Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) technology allows the same
single copper wire pair used to deliver Plain Old Telephone Service
(POTS) to a business or residence to derive a simultaneous high
bandwidth (up to 8 Mbps) digital connection. The talk will begin with a
discussion of various application and service models. Transceiver
technologies and relative performances will be compared, and deployment
issues will be discussed. Future service models and migration paths
will also be discussed.
