Linux for Dessert: Experimenting with Raspberry Pi

Jeff Jirsa

Tuesday August 14th 2012 at 7:00pm
Wheaton, Illinois Institute of Technology - Rice Campus, Room 103

Abstract

Teaching students about computers can be expensive. The Raspberry Pi organization decided to change that. For $35, students can learn about computer hardware and software on the cheap. It didn't take long for hobbyists to find out about the little computer board, and start experimenting with what it can do.

In this presentation, you will learn what it takes to set up the hardware, configuring the software, and look all the kinds of projects that people are doing with the Pi. There is plenty of resources on the net to help you get started, and maybe you'll get an idea for something cool! Let's get excited about computers again!

Once we have finished, we will adjourn to nearby Cozymel's Mexican restaurant for food and drinks.
