Ken Schumacher's goal in this presentation is to introduce concepts and technologies in the area of IT Identification Management (ITIM). We will look at PKI (Pubilc Key Infrastructure) as it is used in OpenPGP and digital certificates. He'll show you how these are used to enhance privacy, ensure authenticity, and verify the identity of those we communicate with. He'll also explain how you can get your own free digital certificate through CAcert.org.
Ken Schumacher is a 30+ year computer professional. He has worked as a programmer, systems engineer, instructor, consultant, and as the IT Manager for a national customer service center. For the last 16 years he has been at Fermi National Accelerator Lab, currently in the High Performance Computing Department. He has been using PGP since 1994, hosted key signing events since 1997 and became an Introducer for GSWoT in 2009. He became an Assurer with CAcert in 2004 and reached Sr Assurer this year.
